The Presiding Bishop of the
Lighthouse Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has described as
‘nonsense’ and ‘false religion’ the preaching of prosperity gospel in churches.
The outspoken Minister of God
preaching on the topic ‘Token of the Blood’ at the Independence Square on Good
Friday said such messages are just complete diversion of the gospel of Jesus
Christ.
His claim, he said, is based on the
fact that those messages do not lead to the salvation of the soul of the lost
and hence condemned Pastors who have made an occupation out of the preaching of
such gospels to please their congregation.
“Christ did not come to make us
happy; he came to save us from our sins….and to put happiness and prosperity as
the reason for Christianity is to bring a false religion…,” he said.
He continued that it is unwise for
Christians to always think that ‘happiness and comfort is the reason for
Christianity’ adding that one cannot be a good Christian and always want to
feel comfortable.
The renowned man of God also noted
that because of the extreme focus on prosperity preaching, most Christians have
placed their businesses and politics above God and they lie and do everything
for business and political success.
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills said God’s
judgment is coming upon such a way of life.
