SOS Call: Blind girl, 16, needs Gh¢15k for brain surgery

A 16-year-old blind girl is in need of Gh¢15,000 for an urgent surgery to fix a brain tumor.

Hawawu Jibril risk becoming deaf if the defect is not fixed soon after the tumor affected her sight, according to doctors.

The Gbawe DC School pupil has dropped out of school for over a year now due to pecuniary difficulties.

Doctors say she needs to perform a final operation to remove the tumor or risk complicating her health.

But her family cannot afford the required amount for the surgery.

“She started complaining of headaches so we went to the normal process until we got to know she had a brain tumor,” her cousin Abubakar Osman told Starr News’ Abena Owusu Nyamekye.

“We have done the entire scan, as well as one minor operation, we have been given a date to come for the major operation. We are still struggling to raise the amount.”

Speaking to Starr News, a teary Hawawu said: “I feel sad because this sickness has made me drop out of school, I wish to be a doctor in future so I can help the sick.”

Starr FM is therefore calling on everyone to come to the aid of Hawawu. Donations can be made to:
