President of the Ghana Medical Association Dr Kwabena Poku- Adusei has
dismissed reports that he has tendered in his resignation letter to the
Ghana Health Service.
A resignation letter purportedly written by the head of the striking medical doctors has gone viral on social media.
Portions of the letter spotted by
StarrFMonline.com said: “ After careful thought and consideration, I
have concluded that my core values are not aligned with the
organisational culture at the Ghana health service.
“It is time to move on to maintain my
dignity and overall happiness. This letter is to officially inform you
that I have abdicated my position as medical doctor”.
But speaking to Kafui Dey on the Morning Starr Friday, Dr Poku-Adusei said he has not written any such letter.
“I have not written any letter to that effect. If I decide to resign, I
will address my letter to the director general of the Ghana health
service who employed me.
“I have also seen the said letter circulating on social media but I will like to say that it is not true,” he said.
Ghanaian doctors are expected to resign en masse today following weeks of strike over their service conditions.
