Flagbearer of the People's National
Convention (PNC), Hassan Abdulai Ayariga has accused government of
stealing his long-term development plan that will be binding on
successive governments.
According to him, the original duration
of the long term plan was 20-25 year – but government on August 4, 2015
launched preparatory work for a 40-year development plan.
President
Mahama, in his keynote address during the launch of Ghana’s 40-year
plan, expressed delight at the general acceptance that the country
needed a long-term plan that would provide the antidote to its
development challenges.
He said it showed what the nation could
achieve, if the people worked together devoid of partisanship and other
differences, he also called on Ghanaians to do away with the
pull-him-down syndrome and cynicism, which are counter-productive.
President
Mahama said the country was starting on a good note in bringing
together people from all shades of the society under one umbrella to
chart a common purpose.
However, speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie", Hassan Ayariga noted that, “President Mahama got it all wrong with the 40-year plan”.
Why?, he explained that the 40 years is unimaginable after maintaining that government failed to consult him for more ideas.
The
PNC flagbearer noted that 20-25 year plan would have been prudent for
the new generation – “government stole my idea but failed to consult me
for vivid and in-depth ideas”.
